2026 Holiday Deadline Information

In preparation for SMU’s Holiday Break (December 23, 2026 - January 1, 2027), the Office of Research & Innovation & Office of Grant & Contract Accounting will be closed starting 5:00 p.m. on CST, Tuesday, December 22, 2026, and will resume normal operations at 9:00 a.m. CST on Monday, January 4, 2027. Please note that Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and Grant & Contract Accounting (GCA) staff will not be available during the holiday closure. To ensure timely processing of proposals, reports, and financial transactions, please adhere to the deadlines listed below.

Proposals Submissions

For any remaining 2026 proposal submissions, all proposal initiation documents (Cayuse Proposal Form, SOW, budget, and budget justification) must be submitted to SPA no later than by Friday, December 4, 2026. Proposals will be submitted before the close of business on Friday, December 18, 2026. Please remember to send proposal initiation emails and documents to sponsoredprojects@smu.edu.

Early January Sponsor Deadlines

For sponsor deadlines occurring shortly after the University reopens, proposal materials must be received by SPA according to the schedule below:

Reports

Please finalize and submit to Sponsored Projects by December 11, 2026. Reports will be submitted by the close of business on December 18, 2026.

Grant & Contract Accounting

Awards routed to GCA in Cayuse by Friday, December 11, 2026, will be set up in PeopleSoft before the holiday closure.

Fully approved Budget Change Requests (BCRs) received by December 15, 2026, will be processed before the holiday closure.

Vendor and Subaward Invoices received by Grant & Contract Accounting by Monday, December 14, 2026, will be processed before the holiday closure.
